This may well be the day when you have come down to your

last ounce of strength. You must lay everything aside in “Choosing God’s Rest.” This is a good thing! When our bodies need nourishment we must eat, when our bodies are thirsty we must drink, when we are tired and weary we must rest. What it comes down to is a choice. After all, most of the time it is our stubborn will that keeps us pushing until we reach a point of collapse. Choosing God’s Rest, is a laying down process. Letting go of all the worldly pressure that so overwhelms us especially during this season of the year.

We begin this morning in Joshua 21:44-45; “The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their forefathers. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord handed all their enemies over to them. Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”

What an awesome reminder, that while we rest, God works. He stands constant watch over us, as we sleep. He remembers His promises to us. His vision for us. He is busy making a way, when we can see no way. So as we take our rest, we can rest in Him. I Kings 5:3-5; “You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the Lord his God until the Lord put his enemies under his feet. But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster. I intend, therefore, to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when He said, “Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.”

Once again in this beautiful scripture we see how God continues His Promises passed on from Father to Son, what the Father’s began out of God’s Blessings, continue with the Son’s. For “God’s Will, Will be done.” Even though we fail in our own strength. God’s purposes and plans will never fail. He gives rest to the weary, and gives strength to those who take up the torch. God’s Vision will never be lost in our hands, but it will be continued in the hands of those to follow us. But, we see the great importance of following the plan of God. For if we fail to do our part in His plan, it’s like a missing piece. The plan won’t be left undone, but the one who fails to do his part, will miss the glory and blessing of God’s Perfect Will.

Psalm 16:8-9; “I have set the Lord always before me, Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my body also will rest secure.”

What a comfort to know that as long as we rest in the Lord, every burden, every heartache, every trial, God is with us. He upholds us in adversity. He helps us when we have to confront hard issues. He is at our right hand, and we Will No Be Shaken!

Psalm 62:1-2; “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

Again we see that God not only rest our body but our soul. How many times have you faced things that torn your heart out. Times when confrontation seemed impossible. Your soul was torn apart by fear and grieving, but just when you needed the way, the will, and the words, God gave them through strength, power and praise.

Isaiah 32:15-20; “till the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest. Justice will dwell in the desert and righteousness live in the fertile field. The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest. Though hail flatten the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be sowing your seed by every stream and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.”

My Dear Ones, God has just given us all a picture of His Peace and Rest. I pray that we all may feel an abundance of that peace and rest today. As, we trust Him for guidance, strength, provision, and Peace. Be still and know that He is God!

Love in Christ,
